Bill,
I decided that my Dad needed an update to his class in the VMI Alumni review. My father, like myself, tends not to be very good at communicating on matters that don’t concern our work. However, I told myself in this new year that I would finally send an update to my class (1995) and while I was at it, I would send one for my father. As you are probably aware, we had a major tragedy in our family in September 2002 when the car that my father was driving was hit and resulted in the deaths of my mother Pat and sister Sally. They were visiting friends in Fredericksburg, VA and were on their way home to Grayson County when they were hit outside of Orange, VA.

Class Notes

Greeting to all from the fair city of Richmond. I trust everyone had an enjoyable safe summer and are now looking forward to enjoying the cool fall weather and watching the Keydets play inspired football!!

Retirement news — After 35 years of serving in a multitude of positions and assignments around the world, our last active duty military BR tendered his retirement. Lt. General Carl Strock retired as head of the Army Corps of Engineers after 2 years of guiding the Corps through many unprecedented challenges of nature and war. Carl on behalf of a grateful country, the entire Class salutes you and Julie for your service. There are not many people who could cope with what you had to deal with - thank you for all that you have done. You made us proud. We wish you and Julie the best and look forward to seeing you all more often in Lexington. (Read on …)

The Passing of Betsy Davis

It is my sad duty to report the passing of Betsy Davis, the wife of Bill Davis. I don’t have any details but I understand that Betsy passed away last week at their home in Bluefield. I will write Bill on behalf of the Class. Please remember Betsy and Bill in your prayers.
